The City of Loveland has secured the services of Choice One Engineering to complete a Train Trestle Study to identify solutions to the over-height impacts at the Karl Brown train trestle. The City completed improvements to the advance notifications in 2017, which unfortunately did not result in a decrease in crashes. The study, which is nearly complete, is designed to identify site-specific countermeasures to improve traffic safety at the low clearance crossing. Recommendations will include short and long-term measures to address these ongoing safety concerns. When completed, the study will be presented to City Council along with an action plan for its implementation. The hope of reducing the bridge strikes is for both safety and the impact which these strikes have on traffic flow in the downtown district. City Council shares the frustration of our residents and visitors on the ongoing, seemingly increasing incidents at the trestle, and are committed to improving this situation.
