The Louis G. Rockwood Community Service Volunteer Award, which recognizes the time and accomplishments of tireless volunteers serving the city, was awarded to Kay Bolin at the June 12, 2018 Council meeting. Kay Bolin is co-owner of Whistle Stop Clayworks, with her husband Tim. Whistle Stop each year hosts a Raku Firing and Ornament Painting during Christmas in Loveland at which handmade ornaments are given away to be painted. In 2016 Kay and Tim’s generosity at this event inspired participants to donate over $2000 to the local NEST program.  Kay has given countless hours as a volunteer in Loveland, including at the 4th of July Festival, the Loveland Farmer’s Market, the Loveland Arts Council and the Loveland Stage Company.  Mayor Kathy Bailey stated that "Kay embodies all that this award seeks to honor, and she is a perfect choice to receive the Louis G. Rockwood Community Service Award this year".
