[ARCHIVED] City's First Dog Park Coming in Spring 2022

Dog Park Small

The City of Loveland is building its first dog park, which will open in Spring 2022.

The dog park will be located at the rear of Kiwanis Park near the JT Stottmann Ballfield. This location was chosen for its open space and proximity to the banks of the Little Miami River.

This project came about as a result of resident suggestions to the city’s Recreation Board. The Board moved the project forward with the help of a group of local high school seniors from Tigers Inc., Loveland High School’s nonprofit organization for students with business skill interests.

The students researched dog parks in the Tri-State area to determine the proposed park’s needs and helped to measure the land — both important tasks that allowed the city to plan and budget.

“In recent years, the city has put significant resources into our parks. The dog park is another investment in Loveland's parks system,” said David Kennedy, Loveland City Manager.

The city’s 2022 budget includes $38,000 for the dog park construction, which includes installation of a concrete pad at the entry, signage, and fencing work.

Once complete, the city plans to hold a grand opening celebration. Please stay tuned for more details in the coming months!
