[ARCHIVED] City Awarded Second Grant to Extend Sidewalks into Warren County

Sidewalk Construction

The City of Loveland recently has been awarded a federal grant totaling $761,243 for the State Route 48/Butterworth Road Sidewalk Project.

The grant was awarded by the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) and joins a $2-million grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The ODOT grant was awarded to the city in May 2024.

This means, with the two grants combined, that the city can move forward with plans to construct sidewalks connecting Warren County residents to Historic Downtown Loveland. Sidewalks will be built on the east side of State Route 48 from approximately Blossom View Drive to Butterworth Road, extending to the Butterworth Glen subdivision.

“This funding allows us to not only improve pedestrian safety along a busy thoroughfare but to tie into the bigger picture of making Loveland more walkable. Per our Comprehensive Plan that guides us, the city is committed to improving pedestrian connectivity, and it’s what our residents have been asking for,” Mayor Kathy Bailey said.

In total, the State Route 48/Butterworth Road Sidewalk Project will connect more than 400 homes in the Warren County portion of the city to Historic Downtown Loveland. Besides Butterworth Glen, the subdivisions of Hermitage Pointe, Sentry Hill, Chimney Ridge, and Brandywine will be linked. Additionally, the sidewalks also will benefit residents of Loveland Health Care.

Although construction will not take place immediately, engineering and design for the project is underway. The project involves several right-of-way elements, which can add steps to the engineering process. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2028.
