[ARCHIVED] City of Loveland Announces 150th Anniversary Celebration Details

LOVELAND, OHIO (December 17, 2025) - The City of Loveland is excited to announce that 2026 marks a major milestone: our 150th Sesquicentennial Anniversary! Throughout the year, the city will host a series of events to bring residents, businesses, and visitors together to celebrate our rich history and vibrant community.

City Flag Contest

The sesquicentennial flag has been chosen through a community-wide contest and was officially announced at the November 25, 2025 City Council meeting. The flag will serve as a symbol of pride for Loveland residents and will be featured at events throughout the anniversary year.

Time Capsule

Loveland recently uncovered a time capsule buried more than 100 years ago, giving us a unique look into our city’s history. While water damage limited what could be preserved, it was still a fascinating discovery. As part of our upcoming 150th anniversary, the city plans to create a new time capsule that may be placed at the future Nisbet Park amphitheater for generations to come.

Commemorative Baseball Game

Join us for a special baseball game at Phillips Park in the spring, featuring guest players, commemorative jerseys, and free hot dogs, popcorn, and water. The event will also include a “Touch a Truck” experience, making it fun for all ages.

History Walking Tour

Residents and visitors can explore Loveland’s storied past through an interactive History Walking Tour accessible via a dedicated mobile app. The tour will highlight historic landmarks and share fascinating stories from the city’s 150-year history.

City Events

The City of Loveland’s regular events will incorporate special elements to celebrate our 150th anniversary. From Hearts Afire and Memorial Day to the Independence Day and the Christmas Tree Lighting, each event will highlight this milestone year and honor our community’s history, culture, and spirit.

Mayor’s Ball

The fall celebration will feature the Mayor’s Ball, a formal event with a big orchestra/band, Rozzi’s fireworks, and exquisite Tano’s catering. Tickets include a special anniversary swag bag. The event is limited to 240 guests and will take place in September 2026.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Throughout the Sesquicentennial year, the City of Loveland will offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities for both residents and businesses to take part in this historic celebration. Residential sponsorships will allow community members to leave a lasting legacy, including the opportunity to have names recognized at the new Nisbet Park Amphitheatre. Business sponsorships will provide meaningful visibility through support of signature events, celebrations, and activities held throughout the year. Additional opportunities and details will be released in early January—check back to learn how you can be part of Loveland’s 150th anniversary and help bring these special moments to life.

The City of Loveland looks forward to celebrating this historic milestone with residents, businesses, and visitors alike. For more information about anniversary events and updates, visit https://www.lovelandoh.gov/572/Sesquicentennial
