The City of Loveland’s Hearts Afire Weekend supported two local organizations. Thousands of dollars were raised!
Eventgoers raised $18,075 for the Women’s Health Initiatives Foundation (WHIF) and $8,751 for the Loveland Stage Company

The second annual Hearts Afire Weekend took place Feb. 10-12 in Loveland. Attendees enjoyed an ice sculpture walking tour, fire twirlers, dining specials, dance lessons and love-inspired activities.

One such activity was the Charity Date Auction, hosted by Cappy’s Wine and Spirits. The auction featured a special guest: George Foster — a Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer, a member of the Big Red Machine World Series Champions, and 1977 MLB MVP. All proceeds were donated to WHIF, a local nonprofit that connects women with natural options to prevent, treat and defeat cancer.

“It’s incredible to see our community give back in such a big way. It’s a remarkable experience to bring awareness for a cause and come together for a truly community event,” said Ben Capodagli, owner of Cappy’s.

WHIF founder Lyn Hogrefe expressed how grateful her organization is to be part of the event: “We appreciate all the efforts put into the Charity Date Auction. Every dollar raised goes straight to the foundation, ultimately helping to save lives.”

Also this year, the city partnered with the Loveland Stage Company (LSC), the local award-winning theater. The Loveland Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit created to improve the Loveland community, also collected donations.

A variety show and a baby/toddler pageant were held to raise funds for LSC to replace its theater’s HVAC system — an estimated $100k replacement cost.

Crushin It!, a valentine-themed variety show, raised approximately $7,000. For a $20 ticket, the audience enjoyed acts of music, comedy, dance and games for a unique valentine experience.

Additionally, the Hearts Afire Valentine Pageant was held at the Loveland Stage Company. This fun pageant was judged by the Loveland Valentine Ladies, a local group of women known for their community service. Through the pageant, organizers raised $1,751 for the HVAC fund.

“We were honored to be part of Hearts Afire Weekend to help raise funds for our beloved theater,” said Jenna Schroeder, LSC Director of Development.
