The City of Loveland is giving away free trees again!
Due to the success in its 2022 inaugural year, Loveland’s Free Tree Giveaway Program is doubling in size to continue investing in the city’s tree canopy. Approximately 200 trees will be given away to City of Loveland residents.
Beginning April 10, 2023, residents can request up to two trees per household via an online reservation form available here.
- Requests will be accepted until all trees are reserved.
- Two types of trees will be distributed: canopy and understory. Residents are encouraged to select trees that will be the “right fit” for their property, keeping overhead wires and expected growth in mind.
- Trees will be available for pick up in October, and residents are responsible for planting and caring for the trees on their own.
Trees giveaways benefit the whole community by promoting biological diversity, diversifying the age of the city’s urban forest, and helping to protect against the next tree pest or disease invasion. Typically, trees distributed through giveaway programs have high survival rates because of a resident’s time investment (requesting the tree, picking up the tree, planting the tree, watering the tree, etc.).
