In late June, sidewalks will be installed along the east side of Loveland-Miamiville Road.
Sidewalks will be added from State Route 48/Oakland Road to Sugar Tree Lane. Storm sewer work will also be completed in the vicinity. Construction is estimated to take approximately two months. Drivers should expect temporary lane closures with traffic maintained by flaggers.
This is the first of a multi-phase sidewalk project to connect three subdivisions along Loveland-Miamiville Road to Historic Downtown and two schools (St. Columban School and Loveland Early Childhood Center).
Public surveys were conducted when the city completed its 2022 Comprehensive Master Plan, a document to guide the city for the next 10 years. Residents stated they were interested in seeing improvements to the roads and sidewalks in housing areas to ensure safe and accessible connectivity to commercial hubs and parks.
“Expanding the sidewalks to encourage safe pedestrian access can boost the quality of life within Loveland. We want to connect our residents to community destinations. By focusing on areas like Loveland-Miamiville Road, our sidewalk expansion efforts are more feasible. This is part of a city wide effort to make all of Loveland more walkable,” explained David Kennedy, Loveland City Manager.
