[ARCHIVED] Election Follow-Up: Loveland City Council

Voting Booths at City Hall

City of Loveland residents voted Nov. 7 to fill three open seats on Loveland City Council. One new candidate was elected to Council, and two seats were re-appointed.

Brian Goodyear is newly elected to City Council. He will be sworn in Dec. 4.

Incumbent candidates Kathy Bailey and Andy Bateman won their City Council seats. They both will be reappointed Dec. 4. This will be Bailey’s third term and Bateman’s second term.

Council Member Kent Blair did not run for re-election. His final meeting will be Nov. 28. Blair served multiple terms on Loveland City Council, having most recently been re-elected in 2019.

The Dec. 4 meeting is an organizational meeting for City Council. At the meeting, Council Members will select a Mayor and Vice Mayor.

Loveland City Council elections are held every two years and rotate between three and four seats. Under the Home Rule Charter adopted in 1961, the city is administered by a council/manager form of government with seven council members elected at large on a non-partisan basis for four-year terms.

City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 120 W Loveland Ave. The public is welcome to attend. If you cannot attend the meeting in person, meetings are streamed online via the city’s website and social media channels including Facebook and YouTube.
