[ARCHIVED] The Frogman Returns to Loveland Oct. 12

The Frogman Returns Event

Hop over to the City of Loveland’s new festival, Return of The Frogman, on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Loveland Frogman is a local legend, similar to Big Foot. The tale says a frog, roughly 4 feet tall, has been spotted standing on its hindlegs along the banks of the Little Miami River. First spotted in 1955, the Frogman was most recently seen in 2016.

“The Loveland Frogman has been part of local lore for years and has quite the following. We are celebrating our amphibian friend with a day of fun,” said Mayor Kathy Bailey.

It’s not easy being green. This event is rare — just like Frogman spottings. The city will hold the outdoor festival only on Leap Years.

Now is your chance to Leap Into the Legend! Jump into the fun Oct. 12 in Historic Downtown Loveland. Here are a few highlights…

  • At 4 p.m., festivities will begin with fun for the little ones. Check out frog-themed story times and sing-a-longs. Activities will be held at Loveland Stage Company, 111 S 2nd St., and Bike Trail Books, 113 Karl Brown Way.
  • Make a splash at the Frogger gaming competition hosted by Railway Barber Shop, 106 Railroad Ave, from 4:30-8 p.m. Try your luck at this arcade favorite and leap your way into a pile of cash.
  • Laugh the night away with the Laugh Til You Croak Comedy Tour! Think of it like a bar crawl, but instead you'll be hopping locations to see a can't-miss lineup of stand-up comedians who have been featured on the Bob & Tom Show, Sirius XM, Comedy Lab, as openers for Dave Chappelle, and more!
  • Meet the Frogman. Did you know the city’s official mascot is the Frogman? Say hello and have your photo taken!
  • Loveland City Schools has joined in on the fun. Art students, ranging from kindergartners to high schoolers, have created special frog art, which will be hidden in downtown businesses. Can you find the hidden frogs? Enter the contest for a chance to win prizes.
  • The Frogman isn’t the only mystery in town. From 4-8 p.m., a mobile escape room will be set up. Spot the puzzle clues to escape.
  • Love Our Land and the Loveland Stage Company will present a showing of the Frogman movie at 8:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance. Please note this a horror movie for adults.
  • Visitors can enjoy the city’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) and dining at local restaurants. In addition, food vendors will be on site for quick bites.

Return of The Frogman is supported by local businesses through sponsorships. The City of Loveland would like to thank BRS Insurance
