[ARCHIVED] New Downtown Parking Lot is Finished

Parking Lot

The City of Loveland’s newest public parking lot is open for use 24/7.

In the final stages of construction, the lot was open on weekends and evenings only.

The lot, located off First Street behind City Hall, features 147 spaces. It can be accessed from First Street or State Route 48. There is no fee to park in the lot.

“Additional parking benefits our residents and guests, including users of the Bike Trail. The new parking lot is a boost to economic development, allowing our local businesses to thrive,” said Mayor Kathy Bailey.

Mayor Bailey and City Council named the lot the David B. Kennedy Lot to recognize current City Manager Dave Kennedy.

Construction began in February 2024, tying into two other downtown projects: the expansion of Harrison Avenue and realignment of the parking lot at City Hall. All together, these projects are creating a consolidated intersection for traffic flow and new sidewalks for pedestrian safety.

Previously awarded grant monies were used to construct the lot. The city secured $1.15 million in state and federal funding: a $900k grant from the Ohio Capital Budget and a $250k grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

With this lot, the city now offers more than 700 public parking spaces in Historic Downtown. View a parking map at https://lovinlifeloveland.com/parking/
